Housekeeping for your Server and Computers:
You may notice that response from your server seems to slow down. Reports take longer,
displays seem to respond slower...
Simple Solutions:
- Defragment the disk drives on the server. This is a Windows utility
usually found under Programs, Accessories, and then System Tools. First Analyze each disk drive to determine
if defragmentation is necessary. If you see a lot of red on the analysis display, run the defrag even if the message says that
it is not necessary. Repeat monthly if possible. (This also applies to your client personal computer.)
- Restart the server
once a week if possible
- Purge the large PAS database files and move old data to the history files. See File Purges and Restores under
the File pulldown on the menu. The Order Files are the largest and most used so purge these first. Check the Help for assistance with
File Purging.
- Monitor the amount of free space on your disk drive(s).
- Run Disk Cleanup periodically to remove tempory
download files, and other junk files on your computer.
